Benedictine abbey founded in 778, the Sainte-Marie abbey can be proud of being the oldest Carolingian abbey in Catalonia. The Romanesque church with three naves houses a large 18th century Schmidt organ. The 13th century Gothic cloister is attached to the church. On the forecourt of the church, a holy tomb, a 4th century sarcophagus, inexplicably secretes clear water since it housed the relics of Saints Abdon and Sennen. Duration of the visit 1/2 hour. The last entries are always made 1/2 hour before closing time.
